"GOOD-BYES ARE NEVER EASY"

Ah geez . . . here I am again, having said more good-byes and embarking upon new horizons. It’s the replacing of the old ones that has me stumped. Sure, there are plenty of good reasons for making positive changes in one’s life, but what about having to trade-in the old for the new? What about the fact that all the dear friends from the old, still inhabit a very real place inside my heart? Yet, I told them all that I had something better to do than be with them? Well, no . . . but there are moments when it certainly feels that way. Those are the moments when I’m missing them the most of all.

They say that people come into our lives for a purpose and that once that purpose has been fulfilled, they leave. At this particular moment I find myself wanting to ask, “What kind of poetic justice is THAT?”

I’ve met so many wonderful people in my lifetime and made so many dear and special friends. Sometimes I just wish that I could have taken them all along with me wherever I’ve journeyed forward to. But then, I suppose, niether of us would have been able to fulfill our destinies. Somehow, the deep wisdom in this knowledge doesn’t make me miss them any less tonight.
